James
Steele Director James
Steele BA MEd, director of Interactive Multimedia
Pty Ltd, has over 30 years experience using innovative
information technologies in communications and
education environments; with the Media Centre at
the Canberra College of Advanced Education (now the
University of Canberra), Film Australia, the
Department of Communications, and the New South
Wales Institute of Technology (now UTS); as head of his own
company from 1990 to 2001. In 1990
James Steele established Interactive Multimedia to
develop educational and resource materials using
new media technologies. The company was at the forefront
of innovative new technology products both independently and
in productive
relationships with other developers, Government
departments and educational institutions, and with
commercial organisations in Australia and
elsewhere. New
technology products such as CD ROM or website
development require production, management and
technical skills in sound production, stills
photography, video production, graphic design,
management and transferal of archival resources
into new formats, computer programming, content
development, software awareness and much more.
Developing new technology products is a demanding
and complex business. James returned to the
University of Canberra as the Manager of IT and Media
Services for the Division of Communication and Education,
where he managed the Technical Services Unit (TSU), and worked on the integration of computing,
communication and media technologies. Check out TSU News for reports on his work with the University.
